Bone Buddies started at Richardson Medical center outside Dallas, Texas in 2010. It is a support group focussed on osteopenia/osteoporosis. Elaine Henderson became the moderator in 2012 and has been leading us since then. During the COVID pandemic, we began meeting on line, and have stuck with that format. Many of the original Dallas members are still participating, but we now have members across the United States and quite a few in Canada and other countries.

Elaine leads us in bone safe exercise and discussion once or twice a week. The discussions typically include a presentation by Elaine or another member and then open discussion. This is a great opportunity for newbies to learn and ask questions. There are always "veterans" around to help guide you on your osteoporosis journey. Summer Lamons RD LD has been answering nutrition/diet related questions for us on a monthly basis for many years. More recently, we have added two new professionals, each answering questions on a monthly basis: Ronnie Shure for pharmacy/drug questions and Maggie Richards for psychology concerns.
